ABBIE’S SPARKLE

Courageous, Dignified, Classy, Funny, Meticulous, Bright, Sassy, Strong, Determined, Thoughtful, Loyal, Calm, Natural, Honest, Creative, Loving, Spirited, Stunning, Unique, a Star – these are just some of the lovely words that were said about Abbie – on her request to know “What is great about me” 🙂

Another of Abbie’s wishes was for her family to set up her own charity. She named it ‘Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation’, created the logo you see today and told us to raise “money towards Hospitals and Stuff”.

It felt right to help children who are facing their own challenges with a Cancer diagnosis, just as Abbie did. Her determination to have as normal a life as possible took us to many great places, to do many great things. Other children’s cancer charities helped us with treats for Abbie and support to have time away as a family to create special memories. Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation’s purpose is to provide similar support in the way of gifts, treats and holidays at Abbie’s Sparkle Lodge, to brighten a child’s day and to remind them they’re not forgotten.

Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation became a registered SCIO on March 12th, 2018 and is here to help children age 18 and under throughout Scotland. We are governed by a Board of Trustees and run by an operational team consisting of the Charity Manager and Fundraising Coordinator. We have many ambassadors that help to fundraise, support at events and raise awareness of Abbie’s Charity. We also like to raise awareness of Childhood Cancer and Sarcoma, to help with early diagnosis that can save a life.

So many people are inspired and motivated by Abbie’s Story and the legacy that she has created. We hope Abbie is proud of the way we are spreading Sparkle in her name, her family and her team certainly are.
